BoZoMips - an alternative to BogoMips.
The main feature is that it calculates faster, so the bootup won't seem to
pause. The numbers produced are numerically different (but within the limits
of accuracy the same). It is a small Kernel patch with adjustable accuracy.
Included is a stand-alone version with source, and a README.
It is available on ftp.shell.portal.com in /pub/zerucha as bozomips.tgz and
is about 5K.
The patch works against 1.2 and most 1.1 (maybe earlier too).
Distributed under GPL.
