Hi,
I'm pleased to announce that XMail version 1.6 is
now available for Linux. XMail is a mail reader program
that you can use to read and compose mail messages. It
supports multiple folders and (optionally) the XFaces
"picture of the author" encoding and display.

The README.1.6 file acknowledges those who helped port
XMail to Linux and to QA it.

XMail does require an ANSI-C compiler (gcc), the
XWindows development libraries and header files in
order to compile it.

XMail has been tested on Slackware and Yggdrasil
versions of Linux.

You may obtain XMail version 1.6 from the X Consortium
anonymous ftp server, ftp.x.org.

The tar file is located in
	/contrib/applications/xmail_1.6.tar.gz

Once you have obtained the file, to unpackage it do:
	gzip -d -c xmail_1.6.tar.gz | tar xvfB -

Once unpacked, you should be able to just type in:
	make.reg

to build it .. if you have a custom installation of Linux
or the XWindows software, you may need to consult the BUILDING
and Imake files before proceeding.

The tar file is in the process of being submitted to
sunsite.unc.edu as well .. its hovering in the Incoming
queue.

Thanks and I hope you enjoy xmail,
 Jeff Markham
