-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

This is to announce the release of svgalib 1.2.8. It has been uploaded to
the incoming dirs of sunsite and tsx and will appear in the appropriate dirs
(see LSM below) and on their mirrors after a (hopefully) short delay.

Since I found the changelog a bit too long let me list just a few highlights
here:

Greatly enhanced S3 support, no font smear, high/true-color, but alas: only
for few chipsets; a (short) cite from the README:

The driver is not complete, but should work on a number of cards/RAMDACs, and
640x480x256 should work on most card. The best support is for a 801/805 with
 AT&T20C490-compatible RAMDAC, and S3-864 + SDAC. All 256/32K/64K/16M works
for them (within the bounds of video memory & ramdac restrictions).

The chip level code should work with the 964/868/968, but most likely the card
they come on would use an unsupported ramdac/clock chip.

Complete new hierarchy of makefiles. Compiles AND installs now out of the box
for ELF (Just change a flag in one config file)
WARNING: However, you must now use GNU-make to compile/install svgalib
(I doubt/hope that this is a problem for anyone)

IMPORTANT: The oak driver was fixed to support Oak-67 again. Oak-87 support
might have been damaged. If you experience problems contact me. If not, drop
me a short success message as well.

No more crashes at <vc-switch>-Enter in raw keyboard mode; vga_safety_fork()
overhauled. If it still doesn't work for you contact me, I'll make it a dummy
in future releases then; All sources cleaned up and reformatted.

Enjoy,
Michael.
