ok, those sound like good ideas, i like xdvi because it's faster than
dxpsview and dxvdoc, it has magnifiers and a better user interface,
and doesn't require generating postscript.  but you're right, there's
a fundamental problem if it doesn't work.  i don't understand why the
postscriptness of a font should matter, though.  i presume it's
because the postscript font outlines have never been converted to the
format used by knuth?  if that happened (potentially very hard, i
realize), it should behave correctly, right?
