xscreensaver logs me out when my time is up...

hi,
When I change the timeout (even to 1 minute) and lock the screen, when
the time is up, it logs me out (instead of putting up a button to click to log
me out).

I call xscreensaver from dash. I don't have anything in my .Xresources
which directly affects anything in xscreensaver. this has been happening alot
lately, but I'm not sure if it happens everytime...
please help me!
