SIPB does maintain rtfm, however we do not manually deal with each faq.
The maintainer of the FAQ should read the news.answers FAQ (available on
RTFM) so that it will be included in the archive.
This is only partially correct, and is more vague than is warranted.
An FAQ is archived on rtfm.mit.edu if it meets one or both of two
criteria (only one of which was mentioned by Matt):
1) It is cross-posted to *.answers.
2) It is listed in the "List of Periodic Informational Postings".
To find out more about either *.answers or the LoPIP, see these two
postings:
Subject: *.answers submission guidelines
Newsgroups: news.answers,alt.answers,comp.answers,misc.answers,rec.answers,sci.answers,soc.answers,talk.answers
Subject: List of Periodic Informational Postings, Part 1/6
Newsgroups: news.lists,news.announce.newusers,news.answers
Available in the indicated USENET newsgroup(s), or via anonymous ftp from
rtfm.mit.edu (18.70.0.224) in the files:
/pub/usenet/news.answers/news-answers/guidelines
/pub/usenet/news.answers/periodic-postings/part1
Also available from mail-server@rtfm.mit.edu by sending a mail
message containing any or all of:
send usenet/news.answers/news-answers/guidelines
send usenet/news.answers/periodic-postings/part1
Send a message containing "help" to get general information about the
mail server.
