There are few things I've installed in the sipb locker recently,
and I'm sending this mail to make sure others know about it.
1. VM 5.31 beta. This is the version of the VM package I have adapted
for Athena use, as mentioned in transaction [0084] in the sipb-todo
discuss meeting. The package is rather large, so I have only installed
the byte-compiled version in the locker itself, and the *.el files are
symlinks back into sipbsrc.
2. timer,timer.el. For use with VM 5.31 beta, and used by some other
random elisp packages for timing purposes.
3. beav. For editing binary files.
This package is not distributed with a man page, but rather with a
couple of plain-text documentation files. I will write a short man page
which refers to them, so that users who type `man beav' won't be
completely put off. I have some doubts about the general utility of
this program. It allows one to edit binary files in a format similar to
an IBM-mainframe style hex dump, among other things.
4. detex. A filter to strip TeX commands from a .tex file. I've heard
this question asked enough times, that I felt it would be useful for us
to have this program.
