I've set up a NeXT build tree (and object volume in /usr/sipb) and
built what I could. Almost everything built, though I did fix a few
bugs in some of the code there. Here's what failed, and why:
discuss -- imake problems on milo
hearts -- ambar is in the middle of tweaking it. (HOOT???)
inews -- directory missing
ptoc -- no pascal compiler
rrn -- lossage with installing clientlib.o in $NNTPDIR
xrn -- needs setenv
xscreensaver -- needs setenv (probably just need to tweak the makefile)
xzwrite, zmail, zpunt - zephyr/zephyr_paths.h missing on milo
I didn't build tex (though I did build web2c) since I've
successfully built that before, and it is included in the base release
anyhow.
A number of Imakefiles had non-terminated character constants
in them, and a few other little things needed tweaking. Some of the
rest needed to be done by hand, a "make all" still won't cut it.
/mit/sipbsrc/next/Notes contains info on what I had to tweak.
When the volume is released, most of what's there should work,
currently about 3M of executables. A number of the installs had
problems because they were trying to put documentation into the main
locker, which was completely over quota, so I've moved all of the ps2
files into a similar project.sipb-ps2.nb volume. Now, with the
additional documentation installed, we still have around 3Meg free.
