richard got a floppy-disc containing a of new /usr/mdec (boot blocks) from
bob mckie today. he's eager to get this tested for installation on the 6.0R
RT packs. i'm scared, and would prefer to wait until january.
do we need this so badly that 2 weeks of testing will be enough?
