We've just discovered why installs are failing for the decstation, and
would fail for other platforms if we tried it. Apparently back in
March, you completely changed the way /etc/athena/login/config is
formatted. However, you only changed it for the RS/6000 and didn't
integrate the changes or test it on the other platforms.

The whole idea is questionable as well, since a short easy to
understand file is now many screenfulls long, and relies on CPP
working properly on each platform. Finally, no one else knew that
this had been done, even though it breaks the release for each
platform and layered Athena.

So we're backing out those changes, in the login config file, and in
do_update. The next time you redesign our software configuration,
remember that Release Engineering is a team and talk to someone else
first.
