It didn't take me long to figure out why my slip connection wasn't
working when I got home tonight.

It wasn't the kernel. Apparently whatever 7.4G has is bit for bit
compatible with what I took from Ted. Or else /vmunix wasn't deleted
(although my hard link /vmunix.nslip was) in the update.

No, what is failing is /srvd/etc/slattach.

My rc.local script starts it, but it don't run.
And every time my machine takes the update, my working version is
replaced with a sym-link to the broken one.

Is there anything that can be done short of remembering to hand-restore
slattach?

Perhaps putting my slattach in the release?
Perhaps a helpful bit of instruction so I could use the new and improved
mksrv to enable automagic re-installation of my slattach?

What ho?
