The last time it was brought up, the source tree had already been in order;
all the Athena-developed software was open, and all the licensed stuff was
locked up. This was all done shortly after we had moved all the sources to
AFS a long time ago. I just simply was not going to go through all the acls
based on political problems between DEC and Athena, when we say that all
our software is open. It was impossible for me to simply close it to the
MIT community as the rel-eng cell does not contain a complete Athena user
database, nor can Moira cope with more than one cell's maintainance. As I
said, we claim our software is open and we also claim we only support our
own community, so if anyone does take it from our source tree, we make no
claims.
