Ever since 7.2R hit the field, I've seen things like
the following in Athena's process list:
15730 ? I 0:00 -M4-035-15.MIT.EDU: HELO m4-035-15.MIT.EDU (sendmail)
15731 ? I 0:00 -AA15731 M4-035-15.MIT.EDU: DATA (sendmail)
15740 ? I 0:00 -M4-035-15.MIT.EDU: HELO m4-035-15.MIT.EDU (sendmail)
15741 ? I 0:00 -AA15741 M4-035-15.MIT.EDU: DATA (sendmail)
15754 ? I 0:00 -M37-318-2.MIT.EDU: HELO M37-318-2.MIT.EDU (sendmail)
15755 ? I 0:00 -AA15755 M37-318-2.MIT.EDU: DATA (sendmail)
Multiple connects from VS2s in 4-035 and 37-3XX. There is
never anyone logged in to these systems and the processes
just sit around for a while and are replaced by others from
other workstations, only to return later.
I wonder if some new and interesting artifact of the new
RVD attach/detach process is at work here...
