The "READ_ME" file for the /etc/dump we are using says:

This directory contains a dump program that runs on 4.2, but is used
to dump old 4.1 file systems. Tapes produced by this program can be
restored to a 4.2 file system by using the standard "restore" program.
------------
So is this an old version or the standard one with an added feature?
