No, the release engineering meeting is the wrong place to send
things like that; this is a relatively new development, because the
purpose of rel-eng changed when we reorganized release engineering and
quality assurance.
Marc was correct to send the message to bugs. The change will not
make it into 7.0 (I just discussed this with Peter) unless we discover
more important changes that need to make it into the release, so it
will have to wait until 7.1.
