There were a few significant problems in 7.0A, especially on the RT
side. 7.0B is out already... I started to change the version number
yesterday, but I had to wait for the Hesiod propogation... Most of you
who have picked up 7.0A probably caught it after a few of the major
problems were discovered. However, an update to 7.0B is required since
not all configuration files were properly updated in 7.0A.
*** Use /srvd/update_ws to update to 7.0B.
Because the update procedure has been re-written significantly,
update_inc is no longer necessary, and will most likely not exist ever
again. (Disclaimer: If there is reason enough to use it, we may bring
the old concept of update_inc back to life).
If you have already taken the 7.0A update, the following is necessary to
update to 7.0B:
If you have auto updates enabled:
1) The next time you activate, the machine will automatically
update and reboot. No action is required.
If you have auto updates disabled (and you are running 7.0A):
1) Log in as root.
Because of the relatively few changes between 7.0A and 7.0B,
running the update from single-user mode is not required.
However, do not count on this being true for all incremental
updates to the 7.0 release. There may have to be a change
later that necessitates that this course of action be taken.
2) Type:
/srvd/update_ws
/etc/reboot -q
If you are not running 7.0A yet:
1) You should be running 7.0A... People who are on this list
and have machines in the friendly test cluster are expected
to be helping find problems in the system. It is better to
find your problems now, rather than later, when it is too
late to have them fixed. You may end up being stuck with
something that you may not like for the next few months.
Thus, your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.
2) Follow the instructions previously sent out to this list
regarding updating to 7.0A. The same instructions will
apply to all versions of 7.0.
