To get the latest and greatest(?), do the following:

	1. Let the machine deactivate

	2. Hit CTRL-P and login as root

	3. Type:
		   attach -h -n e40test-{sys,usr}-70
		   /etc/shutdown now

	4. Wait for a while, until the machine goes to single-user mode. The
	   following warning message will appear:

WARNING: Something is hung (wont die); ps axl advised.

You may ignore this warning; it is caused by AFS.

	5. Now type:
		   /usr/ucb/reset
		   /srvd/update_ws

	6. When the update procedure completes, type:
		   /etc/reboot -q

Presto!

Bug reports should be sent to <testers>, not <bugs>.

Some warnings:

If you have lots of personal programs or have thrown a lot of data onto
the root of your workstation, you may find that the "track" procedure
will complain about the disk being full. ALL the binaries are being
replaced, so much of the normal slack is needed for the update. If the
root partition overflows, hand-intervention is required and the update
must be re-run. Do not reboot if errors occur in the middle of the
update. Most people who have changed the root partition significantly
enough for this to occur will probably be able to figure out how to do
this, but if you have problems, feel free to call upon Release
Engineering to help you update, if you are unable to figure it out.

Most simple customizations can be done via the "mkserv" scripts now.
There is even a manual page describing its operation. All
customizations done via "mkserv" will be preserved from release to
release, so using it will probably save you time later.

RT 7.0 binaries are incompatible with 6.4 systems. Do not attempt to
work too much with 7.0 packs without updating. Certainly do not try to
run "xinit" with 7.0 packs to get a login session on the RT. "xlogin"
will work and will reconfigure your machine to understand most 7.0
binaries, but an update is still advisable. Several hacks have been put
in place to make 6.4 able to cope with 7.0 binaries, but these have only
been put into the common paths. If you are not acting like a normal
user, you are quite likely to hang your RT, if you do not take the
update. Also, do not build binaries on RT 7.0 systems if you expect
them to work in the field before summer.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask either Ezra Peisach
or myself.
