athena problems

One of our servers, baron-ochs, which was functioning normally until this
morning,
is refusing logins. When I try to log in at the console I get this message:
Workstation failed to activate successfully. Please notify the athena hotline.
I rebooted, and the reboot was very slow. Along the way I received these
messages:
Lost contact with volume location server 18.145.0.25 in cell athena.mit.edu
Lost contact with volume location server 18.7.1.66 in cell athena.mit.edu
Lost contact with volume location server 18.158.0.37 in cell athena.mit.edu
Hesiod_resolve: Connection refused. No cluster information available for
baron-ochs.mit.edu
Athean_sun4sys_92 Could not look up hesiod entry. Connection refused.
