Concurrent with this morning's AFS restart, all fileservers in
the athena cell will begin running a fileserver binary that should fix
the problems that have been reported following our cell-wide upgrade of
AFS 3.6 patchlevel 1. For those unaware of the problems, they involve
fileservers "blacklisting" clients under specific conditions; clients
disabled by a specific fileserver could no longer request data from that
fileserver until the fileserver was restarted.
The update should have no visible effects other than those
normally associated with the weekly AFS restart.
If the behavior this patch should fix is observed following this
morning's restart, please contact ops@mit.edu.
