I have replaced the hard drive in this Sun sparcclassic. The drive was a 424
meg, and was replaced with I believe was a 540 meg. System is now up and
operating properly. Regarding the bad part in question:
JJ, for now I will leave this bad part in a box on your desk. I have filled
out a Sun repair form and a DHL slip thats with the box. This will need to be
called in for an RMA #. Now the 424 meg hard drive still has its mounting
bracket attached. To me, it looks like it would stay with the drive instead
of taking it off. A special tool is required to accomplish this task. The
540 meg hard drive does not need a bracket to install. We may want to find
about this situation. Do we still use 16302 for the shipper's reference #?
Lets post an example DHL slip in the staging rm.
The S/N for the Sun CPU in question is 335F0295.
Please leave this note active in hotline until the above questions are
answered.
                           Thanks,
                                 --Lou 9/9/94
