OK...Lou was complaining that the notes problem returned. After some fiddling
I cleared the lock and rebooted hector (in reverse order).
After it was rebooted it did not have system packs (which it needs for emacs.
I attach'ed packs and copied emacs local so this would not be a problem in the
future.
If there are any other dependancies on AFS...they should probably be
eliminated (or reduced)
