Hi,

I attended the Windows 3.1 Professional Developers Conference in Seattle, WA
this past week. Here's what happened:

+ Windows 3.1 to be released by the end of this year
    Features:
	+ Object Linking and Embedding
+ Dynamic Data Exchange Management Library
	+ Drag and Drop
	+ Pen Extensions
	+ Redesigned file manager
+ New Help Engine with segmented hypergraphics
	+ Extensible Control Panel

We will have the next Beta (Beta 2) Release in about 2 weeeks.

+ Multimedia Extensions for 3.0 and 3.1
    Features:
	+ Simply amazing
+ Almost full motion video using standard VGA mode w/256 colors
	+ Great Sound capability
	+ Simple API
	+ Available now for $500

I am attempting to get this free, it's a truly amazing package...

+ Windows NT
    Features:
	+ Multi-threaded, symmetric multi-tasking
	+ Pre-emptive
+ Enhanced GDI with Bezier curves
+ New file system with long names
+ Will run DOS, Old Windows and 32-bit Windows apps
	+ Runs on 386, 486, and MIPS
+ C2 secure (requires login, etc.)

    Release set sometime in 92.

Microsoft stressed it commitment to Windows. This product line is what will
carry them into the future. It seems to be a truly great line. Windows NT will
bring the PC into the real ballgame again and should keep Microsoft on top.

I will be giving a more detailed presentation sometime next week for any who
would like to attend. I think we should really consider integrating Windows
into the Athena environment to the point of public clusters. It will be a while
before NT is available though, so we have plenty of time.

If there are any questions I will be happy to answer them...
