The Lockers vs. Packs project team will be holding an open forum on
our results in E40-496, on Friday April 16th between 1 and 3pm. Staff
and other interested parties who want to learn about our conclusions
and suggested "next steps" on software deployment mechanisms for
Athena are invited to attend.
At some point in time tomorrow, Friday April 8th, copies of the LVSP
documents will be available in the mail rooms of buildings 11 and E40.
The four documents will be bundled together, consisting of:
Recommendations
Where to Deploy Software
Locker Maintenance Guidelines
Athena Environment Patch Release Process
The major document of interest to staff will tend to be the
"Recommendations" document. The other three documents explore in
depth some of the particular recommendations made. There is some
mention in these reports of a document called "Definitions and
Random Musings". That document is not important for reading these
reports, only as a source of background information. It will become
available some time next week.
These documents are available on-line as Word documents in the Public
folder of the Macintosh "Shadowfax", in the Athena zone. We will also
attempt to make text-only versions for TechInfo over the next couple
of days. When they become available in TechInfo an announcement will
be posted to the <lvsp@mit.edu> mailing list. This mailing list is
archived to the lvsp discuss meeting on nemesis. If you have any
difficulty in getting access to any LVSP documents, please contact any
of the team members for assistance.
We encourage people to attend and provide us with feedback. We are
currently working on getting some munchies for the meeting as a
suitable bribe. :-)
