What is VUIT?
"DEC Visual User Interface TOll (DEC VUIT) is a WYSIWYG-style editor
for building interfaces to applications that conform to OSF/Motif(TM),
the Open Software Foundation's specification for open graphical user
interfaces. VUIT provides an interactive interface to the User
Interface Language (UIL) compiler and the OSF/Motif Toolkit. With
VUIT, programmers can develop a new interface or modify an existing
interace that was defined with Motif/UIL."
We have a 15-minute demonstration videotape of VUIT, on loan for a few
days from DEC. We'd like to invite all of you to a screening of the
tape in our Visitor's Center, E40-310, Tuesday, October 29th, at 3 pm.
(If someone is interested but cannot attend at that time, please
contact me to schedule another time to view the tape. Keep in mind
that it has to be soon, as we have to get the tape back in a few
days!)
We also have a beta copy of VUIT installed on the Tony Testa's DEC5000
here in E40. A guest account has been set up on the machine so anyone
interested can try out the software. Just send mail to Tony
(testa@athena.mit.edu) to set up a time to use the machine.
