Location: E40-302 (Visitors Center)

You are all invited to a meeting to look at a prototype TechCalendar
application for the Macintosh. TechCalendar is a port of the Project
Athena Calendar application. TechCalendar allows you to maintain your
personal calendar in addition to browsing the schedules of other
TechCalendar and Project Athena Calendar users.

TechCalendar provides Mac users with the capability of shared
calendaring with Project Athena Calendar users. TechCalendar
is not a complete solution to the shared calendar problem. It is simply
a port of an existing product -- a port which we feel will provide
utility without the resource commitment that a new calendar design would
require. TechCalendar is a demonstration prototype and because of
limitations, may not be developed into a product.

The meeting will consist of a brief demonstration of the prototype, a
discussion of the application's functionality and the user interface.
If there is interest, we can discuss the general shared calendaring
problem, the techcalendar client/server design and possible future
directions.

A design document and README file can be found in:

 /afs/athena.mit.edu/astaff/project/macathena/doc/techcalendar

or can be obtained by anonymous ftp from marathon.mit.edu in the
pub/techcalendar directory.

A binhex version of the application will be available in the above
locations on Tuesday, October 28th.

Hope to see you there,

Jack Gettens
