No, it _isn't_ "anyone's guess/claim."

Some of us were there, as participants, and have all the relevant traffic
on our hard disks. And more importantly, vividly in our memories.

Look, Jim, I know you pride yourself on having idiosyncratic theories about
physics, electronics, politics, and even history. But, really, the history
of the whole Gilmore/Sandfort thing has been rehashed so many times over
the past several years that for you not to know what happened means either
you were not reading posts other than your own or that your memory is so
porous as to be useless.

Just today Lucky Green gave you a capsule summary of how it was that the
list came to be moderated. John Young offered similar comments.

Again, it is _not_ "anyone's guess/claim."

Reality is what it is.

Had you saved the list traffic as many of us do, you'd have your own archives.
