I hear:
..
Kevin Mitnick has been imprisoned without a trial for:
3 years, 10 monthes, 19 days, 14 hours.
http://www.kevinmitnick.com/
..
So the Chinese aren't the only ones pissing on human rights.
Only, I heard the last two Chinese who hacked a bank were given
death sentences, and I think reading such sentences in China are
executed immediately... So I guess Mitnick should just be happy. :-)
In any case, I wonder, just how do the people in power justify the
Wassenaar Agreement and the US export controls in this light?
If they actually wanted or respected the human rights, they would be
showing cryptography into Iraq and China, enabling the people to safely
oppose the elite in power, instead of denying all privacy to them.
Only the naive believe that any government couldn't and wouldn't have
cryptography when it wants to, because of some primitive export controls.
The only part of people that the export controls in US, and the
Wassenaar Agreement in EU are effecting, are the ordinary citizens
in every nation.
I guess we can draw our conclusion: human rights just aren't
an issue in foreign politics, and Saddam is needed. And why?
I can think about $60 plus $12 Billion brand new reasons as to why.
( FYI I heard Clinton added a $12 Billion dollar bonus on the US
defence budget, to help counter future threats. )
