This article, while covering a different topic, contains an absolute gem in
the form of a very interesting figure: "About 1,800 people have applied for
the licences"
1800 registering peoples/month / 7,000,000 gunowners / = ...
... =0.000257% of gunowners per month
Let's multiply this by 12 for the value for a year
0.000257 x 12 = 0.0031 = 0.31% of gunowners / year.
At this rate, the 100% of 7,000,000 million gunowners will have registered in:
1 year / 0.31% = 324.3 years.
OK, OK, Annie-Get-My-Gun doesn't agree with our figure!
Fine! Divide it by seven, you'll get the number of years it takes per million
of owners.
At that rate, it will take 46.3 years PER MILLION OWNERS...
And this is in the context that:
- as part of theses peoples, there are many who probably got their licence
because their old FAC was expired and wanted to buy a NEW firearm (probably a
chrismas gift from their loving wife)...
- as an incentive, you offered "rebates" on the price of the paperwork...
- most of the one who are neither poor (i.e. who _must_ do so because of the
rebate) nor in need of the documents (i.e. for purchasing a NEW firearm while
not holding a valid FAC) are absolutely naive and clueless... But they won't
remain so for long...
You need to interpret numbers, crunch data? Hire a physicist!
