This is distantly related to the effect that Ken Starr and the
Republican led House Judiciary Committee hoped to achieve with the 
"Starr Report". I think they felt that America was far more prudish and
fundamentalist than it turned out to actually be. The disgust and
outrage based on imagined sexual taboos never materialized. If this
indicates anything about the nature of the American people I doubt that
any sort of reconstruction would take the form Gary North dreams of.

The bit about the banking system is more worrisome. Money matters hit
closer to home for most Americans than mere Presidential misconduct.
It's reasonable to think that people will be spooked by [irresponsible?]
talk of banking doom and gloom. How fast can Treasury print fresh paper?
