The complete lists of alpha machines and contacts are ready in
/mit/release/R8.1/alpha/testers/contacts.{sgi,sun}
There are two files which need to be updated with appropriate
information about how to update workstations, precise dates on the
release, and contents of the release:
/mit/release/R8.1/update-email.{sgi,sun}
I know about Solaris 2.5 but am not sure what else to put in the
message.
Once the text is ready, you can send email to everyone using a perl
script in the release locker. There's even something resembling a man
page for it, but the general use is
add release
releasemail -from release-team -sub 'Alpha Athena Release 8.1'\
-da /mit/release/R8.1/alpha/testers/contacts.sgi \
-m /mit/release/R8.1/update-email.sgi
