1. IAP patch release - No solaris; SGI only.
plan to announce on 1/21 out 1/27-28 (Monday Night/Tuesday Morning)
we will provide detailed instructions on how to diagnose the
problem seen on my SGI
we will make sure people are available the morning of 1/28 in
case there are problems
2. user path--jhawk's message implies that we can stop building
traceroute for 8.1 (since SGI provides one)
3. Athena 8.1 plans
Solaris 2.5.1
IRIX 5.3
greg is working on solaris installation cleanup, syncconf for
solaris, and some build conversions. consult
/afs/dev.mit.edu/source/src-current/doc/news for details of the
current state of the 8.1 development.
we should look at krb5
7 parts
libraries
user utilities (kinit)
admin client (passwd)
application clients (rlogin, rsh)
KDC (kerberos.mit.edu)
admin server
application servers (klogind, kshd)
the sequence for "upgrade" probably requires that we upgrade
the application servers (which are in the Athena release) to allow
upgrade of other parts to proceed.
Action Item: Greg will talk to Ted to get someone from the Kerberos
group to talk to the release team.
Action Item: We need to take the release order and begin to fill
in dates and names.
4. mime and mh?
we believe the current state of affairs is fine (builtin, but
disabled by default). no change this year.
5. cdrom "issue" -- there may be some difficulty with cdrom access on
solaris. there are suggestions that workman tells you to chmod a file,
and there may be related problems with MAE and cdrom access.
