The following came into software-suggestions. Can someone reply
to this person with the rationale for the current default font
size? (I also find the default font size too small, and so am the
wrong person to reply).

		Thanks - Naomi

Hello,

I am a new graduate student at MIT, and just left a job at Harvard
where i was a scientific programmer for 2 years. In this time, I
became very sensitive to the ergonomic setup of computer workstations.
I particularly had some problems with my eyes.

I believe that the default font size that athena uses IS FAR TOO
SMALL. The ergonomically correct position is to sit one or more
arm's length away from the terminal screen. However, I continually
see people leaning forward, noses a few inches from the screen,
because the font is TOO SMALL to read from the correct distance.

I changed my default font to be 10x20, the same font size that I
used at Harvard. My suggestion is that you change the default font
size for athena users to be larger and spare eveyone's eyes! Let
individual users make the font smaller if they want.

Amy Munson
