To: release-team@MIT.EDU
Date: Mon, 13 Jan 1997 11:45:26 EST
From: Mike Barker <mbarker@MIT.EDU>

Attending: ghudson, brlewis, kcunning, dryfoo, othomas, mbarker, dot,
jweiss, miki
Next Meeting: 1/16, 10:30, E40-316

Action Items:
1. IAP Patch Release?
Irix patch release- into dev cell 1/16
Solaris patch release - into dev 1/10; decide 1/16

2. Default User Path
	* Do we want to include /sbin and /usr/sbin in the default
user path on Solaris? (This is not related to the IAP patch
release.) Most binaries in that directory are not useful to
normal users, but a few are (ifconfig, ping).

Decision: for the summer release, we will plan on doing this (and the
parallel /usr/etc change on IRIX) Benefits: provides "transparent"
access to these programs; seems to have little or no cost

3. Expanding /usr
	* We probably want to expand /usr in the format inputs for
Solaris, soon. It won't necessarily solve our problems, but
it may make them easier to deal with. What do we want to
	  change them to?

Decision: greg will prepare a proposal with specific sizes, indicating
the remaining size in /var the proposal will consider the 400, 512, 1
gig, 2 gig, and 4 gig disks and various OS scenarios that we can
expect.

4. sendmail configuration

	* Do we want to desupport the NEWMAILCF rc.conf variable in
order to make sendmail.cf treated the same as other
	  configuration files?

Decision: upgrade to sendmail will require users with "hacked"
sendmail.cf to figure out what they've done anyway. Let's plan to (a)
make the sendmail.cf get the same treatment as other configuration
files and (b) warn users that they are going to have to think a bit.

5. changing default user prompt - Gary Dryfoo

Decision: will deal with this outside of release. e.g. consulting
script, etc.

6. rescheduling the meeting--when is good?

Discussion indicated that later would be better. We are going
to move to TUESDAY at 12:30, starting on 1/21.
