I am forwarding a user's request for a patch to Solaris to make nedit work.
I don't know if this patch affects anything else (for better or worse) or for
that matter whether it has been, could be, or should be included in an Athena
release. Is there a better place to send such things?

Is it possible to patch the sun operating system? I am the TA for
course 10.490 and I have discovered difficulties with our editor
software on the suns that can be fixed with patches ID# 102226-19 (for
Solaris 2.4), or ID# 103461-07 (for Solaris 2.5.1).

Here is the message that I recieved from the distributors of nedit:

Another possible problem requiring a patch from Sun is a messed up file
name
list in file selection dialogs (Open, Include, etc.). The file list
shows up
containing full path names and no horizontal scroll bar, usually with
the
useful part of the names scrolled hopelessly off to the right of the
list.
The patches for this are ID# 102226-19 (for Solaris 2.4), or ID#
103461-07
(for Solaris 2.5.1).

Thanks
