I appreciate it.  I did watch the first 5 to 10 SGIs in w20 take the
update, (and even logged into a few of them as opuser) and saw no
problems.  I would have to wonder how I missed this big a problem if
it was affecting all SGIs.

For what it's worth, as the person who did this particular release, I
personally would not have considered it unreasonable for someoen to
have paged me about a problem that affected a large number of machines
as this appearantly did (do we have any idea of the actual number?
were any public workstations effected?) I wouldn't have been happy
about it and I may or may not have been able to help, but I think it
would have been reasonable, if people thought I might have been helpful.
