Meeting Notes:

Athena Release Team, Tuesday April 28, 2009 1:30 in W91-250

Next definite meeting will be in three weeks, May 18 at 1:30 in W92-250.
There may be a meeting next week, if there are urgent issues to be
discussed.

Present: broder, jdreed, othomas, jweiss, alexp, sml, amb, geofft,
rbasch, wdc

Action Items
============

From last meeting:

 - Changing Hesiod pobox information
   zacheiss has no problems with the change, but the request needs to
come from mark.

 - Update debathena-cluster to depend on debathena-thirdparty
   This happened last night; nothing seems to have fallen over.

 - Updating the top 10 wiki page: Delayed

 - Install Debathena on a W20 quickstation: Delayed

From this meeting:

 - wdc and othomas will create documentation on how to gather the
statistics that we collect now.

 - jweiss will kill off the statistics on rebooting Sun and Linux
machines, and will point counterlog-based stats at a public list.

 - jdreed will move remaining issues from Jira into Trac.

 - othomas will get a letter out to the "identifiable subset of people
who care about Suns".

 - jdreed will e-mail bowser about enabling GSSAPI authentication on
exchange.mit.edu and about changing the Hesiod pobox record for Exchange
users to imap.exchange.mit.edu.

Transition Issues
=================

Going forward, othomas volunteered to be responsible for the strategic
side of guiding the project. He also volunteered to be an entry-point
for issues that Release Team wanted to escalate, although he noted that
he didn't want to own that forever. He also suggested getting OEIT
involved, as many of the people there still have their hands in issues
relevant to Athena.

jdreed volunteered to handle the tactical side - making sure that
deadlines get met, etc. He also agreed to be the convener of Release
Team, at least through the summer. We'll rotate responsibility for
taking minutes.

sml volunteered to take on project management tasks as needed.

Bugs and issues: We decided to use Trac as the primary bug tracker for
Debathena. We'll duplicate issues in Jira that need to be visible to
people in IS&T outside of Release Team as necessary. We'll also add a
"see also" URL field to Trac to be used for tracking both upstream bugs
and linked Jira issues.

Documentation: Anything that's currently under the IS&T website as
"static content" should move into Hermes if it's likely to change,
especially given the pending website freeze. othomas expressed interest
in gathering "meta-documentation" - documentation on how we collect
information.

Wikis: The wikis.mit.edu space will remain a place for documenting
project-related information that's not of interest to the larger
community (e.g. the Technical Plan). othomas will be responsible for
poking people to keep the wiki up to date.

Metrics
=======

Metrics were brought up again (a couple of times), but as we still have
no concrete guidance on what sort of metrics people want, any decisions
were tabled.

Exchange
========

As a group, we decided that the biggest issue to us with the Exchange
migration was the loss of single sign-on. jdreed will talk to bowser
about enabling GSSAPI authentication.

We also agreed that the lack of support for calendaring using native
clients on Linux (presumably through MAPI support) remains a big issue,
but is second priority to GSSAPI.
