It was investigated prior to the E-mail meeting (apparently the
minutes of that haven't been sent around, that should probably be fixed)

Well, I thought MAPI would be available, since Outlook/Entourage use
it, but I don't recall the details of what was said at the meeting,
and the notes suggest that MAPI with Evolution won't work. It's worth
testing again.

This failed to work for me when I built it from source in January (on
RHEL 5). Specifically, it built, but would not connect, and the
errors were not useful. I didn't have time to do additional
debugging. If it's in Jaunty, then it must work for someone. Can
someone with a Jaunty machine test it this week? (everyone should have
an Exchange account, but you need to have changed your password
"recently" in order to be able to log in to Exchange, so you should
verify that OWA works before testing Evolution/MAPI). Also, I think
you have to connect to $foo.exchange.mit.edu, but I don't remember
what $foo is.
