The repeated prompting for the password will happen when
an incorrect password is entered, so it sounds like the
password is not what you think it is, for whatever reason.
Have you successfully used the password with this Firefox
profile before?

You can reset the master password by going to the URL:

     chrome://pippki/content/resetpassword.xul

But please note that any stored passwords, as well as your
certificate(s), will be lost when you confirm by clicking
the Reset button (of course, this is effectively the case
now, if you cannot remember the master password). You
should then be prompted to set the password when you create
your new MIT certificate.
