Due to a broken change I made in 7.7W (which I failed to notice
because of a conspiracy of circumstances), newly installed 7.7
machines will fail to function properly. Old 7.7 machines will
complain a lot, but continue to work fine. This will continue to be
the case until we release 7.7X.
Mainly because it is the weekend and we like to avoid making changes
over the weekend, I am not planning to put out 7.7X until Monday
night. (This will delay early-test by one day.) If this is a big
problem with respect to new installations, let me know. We have two
options in that case: first, I can let you know how to make newly
installed machines work (involves typing a couple of lines after
logging in as root on the console). Second, I can actually put out
7.7X this weekend, though I suspect that isn't necessary.

I'm always learning new and trickier ways to lose...
