I'm not sure if it's helpful or not, but it was easy, so I applied my
changes to lpstat to the dialups, so that if people actually need to run
Matlab on a Sun and print from it, ssh'ing to a dialup should be a
reasonable workaround.  

Note that because the dialups don't have any default printer, you must
setenv PRINTER to the name of the queue you'd like to use before
launching Matlab.
