I'd caution that a number of applications I compile for Suns (like
abiword and gnumeric in particular, but there are quite a few others)
rely heavily on "standard" Open Source components, particularly gnome
libraries. It's only been in 9.4 that I've finally been able to get
clean builds of most of these without missing dependencies. It would be
unfortunate to have to stop supplying these applications on Suns while
we're still supporting that platform.
If what you mean is keeping "stock" versions of these and just not
building custom Athena versions, I think that would be fine- I'd only
expect problems if certain things go away entirely. Unfortunately I
can't easily supply a list of these "certain things"- every application
has different requirements.
