Hi Michael,
I'm sorry we didn't get back to you sooner. I;m not sure what cause
the large number of missing files, but it seems to be corrected now.
The other issues you mention are a function of cleanup (including the
verification) that runs when PUBLIC=true in rc.conf. The proper way
to set up remote access via ssh on an athena machine is to run 'mkserv
remote' as root, which will automatically set PUBLIC to false and do
some other things. or more information, please see sections 4 and 5 of:
