I saw the recent announcement for Athena 9.4.16 patch release. Will
contain a fix for the problem I sent email about earlier today?

General history: last week after the host rebalais.mit.edu upgraded to
9.4 hung, lots of files were missing and gnome-session was unable to
start because of CORBA issues. The RPM database was inconsistent with
reality, but even a force install of many missing rpms didn't fix the
host. I reinstalled it on Friday and it was messed up again by
Sunday. It was booted into an 'athena-linux' kernel which didn't have
network driver. Lots of settings got reset as well.

thanks,
michael

Subject: host rabelais failed twice with Athena 9.4 update

Hi wdc & ops,

We reinstalled the host rabelais.mit.edu last week after it failed to
complete the Athena 9.4 update and became unusable. It failed again
over the weekend and messed up a lot of stuff on the host.

I just got off the phone with Lou at IS&T and he indicated that there
may be an update coming out soon to fix an issue some x86 hosts are
having with 9.4 update?

Anway, is the fix coming out tonight, or should we make sure it
doesn't try to update again.

thanks,
michael
