1. dot explained that we could do the mailing concerning beta release
using the files:

	release/R8.0/
		suns
sun.contacts -- lists beta suns and contacts
update_instructions -- email message to send
			(may need minor editing)

/mit/dot/bin/email -- a dumb perl script to read the contacts list
		and send email to everyone

2. Solaris

**NEW TARGET DATE -- MAY 8. This will allow Greg and Miki to coordinate
so that the automated build output matches Miki's srvdxx packs.

We decided to slip the date one week to make sure that we could
accurately build. NO HAND HACKING! or at least as little as
possible.

	- X11 issues resolved
          /usr/lib/X11/foo.so had symlinks to /usr/openwin/lib/X11/foo.so

** We intend to remove these links. To the best of our knowledge,
they are old compatibility links which are no longer required. IF
THERE ARE PROBLEMS, WE WILL RESTORE THEM.

** Should be noted in beta release notes

(CARLA? DO YOU KNOW OF ANY PARTICULAR PROBLEMS IN REMOVING THESE?)

	- hesiod cluster pointers

	- there has been some confusion about catman and production of man
pages. I think this got straightened out in the meeting.

3. AFS showstoppers have all gotten relief. Ask Bill for details.

4. There has been a suggestion that we add a periodic "resynchronize
time" to stabilize the situation with time. I.e., run a cron job NOT
using the AFS time handling that will periodically force the time to a
reasonable value. Something like the "gettime" synchronization that
occurs during reboot. Network (Tom) says they would like to review
any such code or procedure to make sure the time servers are being
hammered with accidentally synchronized requests.

5. Greg will deal with putting NOMHNPROC in the environment.

6. IRIX 5.3
the update order needs to include telnet
update and install need to be finished asap to go to alpha

7. Request that one of the SGIs in the machine room be brought up for
release engineering work. (I.e., put one of the machine room SGIs in
Greg's office)
