Some key problems:
1. We need to keep a list of problems which are found in the sol24
and irix53 ports. The testers and developers should send mail to the
appropriate lists, but we should have a "one-line per problem" list of
all outstanding problems. The release team should "rank" those as to
how serious they are.
ACTION ITEM: testers and developers should send messages to sol24
and/or irix53 for each problem.
ACTION ITEM: Carla will keep a list of problems (one for sol24, one
for irix53)
ACTION ITEM: We will start reviewing those lists as soon as they are
ready.
2. We need to keep a list of changes (especially user-visible ones)
which are being made in sol24 and irix53 ports.
ACTION ITEM: testers/developers should send messages to sol24 and/or
irix53 when they make or find a change.
ACTION ITEM: documentation and/or training should get and stay
familiar with these messages.
ACTION ITEM: the reasoning and side-effects of changes should be
publicized more than at present. We should make sure that we write a
short "justification" and "side-effects" section when making or
announcing changes.
ACTION ITEM: we need writeups about where we are on cc for sol24 and
emacs19 for sol24, as "hallway designs" aren't quite solid enough or
widely enough known.
3. The release team meetings need some attendees. Specifically, we
need to make sure that we have enough interaction with:
someone who writes release notes
someone involved with training
someone involved in Athena consulting help
someone involved in Athena Faculty liaison
someone involved in cluster support
release engineers
random developers
ACTION ITEM: Mike needs to get agenda and minutes out regularly.
ACTION ITEM: Mike needs to check with team leaders and members and
make sure people expect to put in some time on this.
