The other option is to use native tetex RPMs on Linux.  We have no
important local tetex mods, I think (we have local support for "dvips
-h {duplex,tumble,bottomtray}" but I don't know if that's widely
used).

But one of my goals was to make the release less humongous,
particularly on Linux, and the Red Hat RPMs take up just as much space
as ours do.
