Speaking as the team leader of ACST (that stands for Academic
Computing Support Team, consisting of the FL's plus Alex plus that
part of Maryam that does eclass work), I heartily endorse the
suggestions that Dot makes regarding getting emacs 19 out there
and supported. If we're not light enough on our feet to
accomplish that by next summer, then we need to change how we do
things around here in order to become more responsive to changes
in the real world.
