New images have just been placed in the bootkit locker for the Athena
linux installer. Changes include:
- addition of the bcm5700 driver to support floppy installs on the IBM 6126
- inaccurate warning messages have been removed
- the CD image is no longer the same as the floppy image; it now has
many many network drivers and should work on lots of additional
hardware without having to use a driver disk.
In addition, a change has been made to the installer volume in AFS such
that custom installs are now the default. This will affect installs done
with all media.
Old media will continue to work wherever it worked before. More of the
mass-produced install CDs are expected to be available within a few
weeks. Questions can be addressed to release-team@mit.edu.
