The Athena 9.1.16 patch release is currently scheduled for the evening
of Monday September 23. Changes include:

  * On Linux and Solaris, Mozilla will now be the default browser for
    the panel launcher, for htmlview, for informational items in
    menus, and for URLs clicked in Evolution. Mozilla will also be
    synchronized nightly to local disk along with Netscape.

  * kpasswd's error-handling has been fixed.

  * On Linux, the lprng RPM has been adjusted so that printing works
    in the Linux appletviewer.

  * The openssh installation has been adjusted to avoid hanging on
    stale NFS mounts under Solaris and IRIX.

  * The xcluster map has been updated.

  * compile_et has been changed slightly for compatibility with krb5's
    version.

  * Some buffer overflows are fixed in the Zephyr library.

  * xscreensaver is more careful not to leave X server resources
    locked.

  * On IRIX, patch 4606 has been applied to get the latest version of
    InsightII to work.

  * On Solaris, "write" should work again.

  * On Solaris, an AFS bug affecting files with negative timestamps
    has been fixed.

  * On Solaris and Linux, a recursive find through a user's homedir
    should work again. (The error returned by looking at
    OldFiles/OldFiles has been adjusted.)

  * On Linux, the zwgc man page is fixed for readability under groff.

  * On Linux, ispell has been added, since the native ispell was
    actually aspell, which is not compatible.

  * On Linux, most Athena RPMs for third-party packages have been
    given "Provides" declarations for the native package name, which
    should help with installation of Red Hat and third-party GNOME
    application RPMs and similar packages.

  * On Linux, the glibc, kernel, libpng, and openssl RPMs were
    upgraded to keep current with Red Hat 7.3.

  * On Linux, the pilot-sync, pilot-sync-devel, and gnome-pilot RPMs
    were added, by request.

If you have a machine set AUTOUPDATE=false, you can update it manually
after the release goes out by doing a console login as root and
running "update_ws".

Please send any questions or comments to release-team.
