1. Browser stuff
We finalized our plans for changing over to Mozilla. Most of them
have been discussed on the list. Some details:
* We should send mail to release-announce calling attention to the
change. (Done.)
* There are some supplemental scripts called by the mozilla wrapper
which might be affected by the local-netscape operation; they need
to be looked at. (Done; they don't reference the infoagents
locker, so no problem.)
* Users will need to clear certificates and get new ones; converting
from Netscape 4 apparently doesn't work. A program "clear_certs"
in the infoagents locker does the erasing part; people at the
meeting seemed to like the name "clearcerts" better, so Todd
should rename it.
* The cache location had been adjusted to /var/tmp/mozilla/username;
it should be changed to /var/tmp/mozilla-username to avoid
permissions problems. (Done)
2. Patch release plans
The next patch release is pretty big. It should be out in the dev
cell by the end of Thursday, and will go to the Athena cell on the
evening of September 23.
3. Status report
We did our status report; see future mail about it.
4. Mail infrastructure
The mail infrastructure may be changing next calendar year to require
some form of (possibly weak) authentication for sending, in order to
reduce the number of sites we get blacklisted by. We should expect to
have to do some work on this.
5. Software suggestions
We will put gnome-pilot and ispell into the next patch release for
Linux, per suggestions.
6. PWOG updates
Camilla has identified areas in the PWOG which need updating; she has
sent mail to release-team about them. On some points we need to
decide whether or not we want to document things, and we need to hash
out some details.
